Niche Business Management Systems (BMS) specializes in crafting business management software for unique industries. Their back-end solutions serve specialized sectors like insurance brokers, healthcare providers, and more.

Always innovating, Niche BMS recently expanded into Energy APIs. Acting as a bridge between business applications and utility servers, their APIs collect data from U.S.-based energy providers to help companies optimize energy usage and cut costs.
The problem: Timezone mismatches
With growing needs, Niche BMS had to quickly scale its development team. After transitioning to remote work during the pandemic, the company decided to explore hiring internationally.
Their first attempt brought in a Ukrainian developer through a contractor, but challenges arose due to significant time zone differences.

“We decided to shift our focus to South America to address these timezone hurdles,” said Ball.
That’s when Niche BMS found Howdy, a partner specializing in connecting companies with top talent in Latin America.
The Howdy solution: Expert devs in sync
Howdy matched Niche BMS with eight skilled developers, handling everything from sourcing to onboarding.
“These developers brought the precise skills we needed, like expertise in Python, Django, and AWS, which were critical to our tech stack,” Ball noted.
The results: A tailored Energy API built from scratch
Partnering closely with the product team, the Howdy devs took the lead in developing an Energy API from the ground up.
“Howdy devs were key to our latest pivot,” Ball explained. “They didn’t just build the system — they understood the ‘why’ behind it and took ownership of the project.”
The developers even went the extra mile by asking thoughtful questions and making suggestions to enhance the quality of the API.
“They approached the work with care and commitment,” Ball said. “Their proactive mindset really elevated our project.”
The collaboration has been just as rewarding for Howdy engineers, who feel valued and supported by OJO.
"I was continually acknowledged, encouraged and recognized, which boosted my confidence in my ability to make things happen," said Pablo A., Senior Software Developer at Howdy. "The exceptional leadership of Qingqing was one of the standout parts of my time there. Her support and encouragement were crucial for my personal and professional growth."
